So much products and techniques but both girls have issues sitting for a long time. The one with 4c hair, is a real struggle, she doesn’t care how it looks. She is at that age, where hygiene care, is not very good.

Comment on How to Talk About Birth Fathers with Young Children by https://www.adoptivefamilies.com/talking-about-adoption/birth-fathers/#comment-10537 Mon, 14 Jun 2021 16:06:08 +0000 https://www.adoptivefamilies.com/uncategorized/how-to-talk-about-birthfathers-with-young-children-2/#comment-10537 When my son was about 4 years old, he asked “Do I have a Guatemala daddy?” [Mom fail!] It opened the conversation and I now remind my adoptive family clients to talk about birth fathers even if we don’t know much about them. He also went through a stage where he was convinced that his “Guatemala daddy” was an “Army man”. I knew from the social worker report that he was probably not but I would just say “I know he worked in a factory but I’m not really sure what else he did.” He’s now 14 and doesn’t say much about his birth family but I feel like we laid a foundation for him to be proud of his first family.

Comment on Adoptees Speak Out About Adoption, Birth Parents, Race, and More by https://www.adoptivefamilies.com/talking-about-adoption/adoptee-voices/#comment-10500 Sat, 24 Apr 2021 12:05:03 +0000 https://www.adoptivefamilies.com/?p=8063#comment-10500 This is a fantastic article. I always wished that I could crawl inside my son’s brain and see what he is thinking. I am going to give him a copy of this letter and hope that it can start some more dialogue. If not, that’s ok! Reading thoughts from other kids will hopefully support him on his life’s journey.
